WHAT WE DID

B&D was hired to perform as the general contractor for this design-build project. This was the second phase of an HVAC renovation for the Fort Marcy Recreation Complex. As part of this phase of the project, the electrical and gas were run to a location in the back of the facility, where a new dehumidifying air handler was installed to serve the pool area. This existing Air Handler Unit (AHU) was on a second story mechanical mezzanine space. A subcontractor had cut wall penetrations for the ductwork. The old AHU was cut and passed through those penetrations as well as all existing ductwork. The new unit was placed within a new fenced off area with equipment pads that completed the installation. A new duct was installed from the unit up into and through the mezzanine space to the pool. In the pool area, we installed a new fabric duct loop. In the first phase, a Variable Air Volume (VAV) unit was installed and fed off one of the new AHUs. Two of those VAVs serve the locker room area and received additional electric duct heaters.
