WHAT WE DID
B&D furnished and installed all required underground infrastructure to support the electrical, data, and communication systems at the University of New Mexico ROTC building prior to concrete placement. The scope included complete layout, trenching, and installation of conduit systems with all necessary fittings, junctions, and supports. All work incorporated proper grounding and bonding in accordance with applicable codes and project specifications. B&D also performed thorough testing and verification of all installed conduit pathways to ensure integrity and continuity prior to backfilling. This package encompassed all related preparatory work to ensure that power, low-voltage, and communications systems were properly routed and ready for future terminations. Coordination with other trades and civil crews was essential to ensure alignment with structural and utility plans and to prevent conflicts during the concrete pour. This project was performed in an aging facility that presented several logistical challenges from the outset. Tight ceiling spaces, narrow hallways, and limited access routes complicated material handling and installation efforts. In addition, the building contained various hazardous and outdated materials that required remediation before construction could begin. This remediation effort significantly compressed the overall schedule and required B&D to fast-track portions of the underground work while maintaining strict safety standards and proper sequencing to avoid delays. Despite these constraints, the B&D team remained agile, collaborative, and solution-focused to keep the project moving forward successfully.
