WHAT WE DID

B&D performed a secure US Air Force major electrical infrastructure upgrade that included the full replacement of Unit Substation 40 to enhance system reliability and capacity. As part of this effort, B&D installed a new redundant 15kV underground feeder to improve redundancy and ensure uninterrupted power distribution across critical systems. The project scope also included the installation of two (2) new 1000 kVA transformers, along with a new low-voltage 480V switchgear to support modern electrical demands. B&D replaced existing feeders with new switchgear, ensuring clean integration into the facility’s distribution network. Additionally, the team installed a new PME-11 pad-mounted switchgear unit to improve service accessibility and protection and replaced the existing 15kV feeder within an occupied and active duct bank, requiring precise planning and execution to avoid service interruptions and minimize disruption to facility operations. This complex scope was completed with a strong focus on safety, phasing, and coordination with the utility provider and facility stakeholders to maintain continuity of service throughout the project.
