Meet one of our newest Project Managers, Jackie Castillo. Since Jackie was young she has always had construction in her blood. Growing up she helped her dad run their family business, R.O.C. Inc. This is where her passion for the industry began. R.O.C. Inc. is based out of Los Lunas, New Mexico. They specialized in utility installs and telecommunications. In 2001 Jackie became part owner as she wanted more responsibility. After running his business for many years Jackie’s dad decided that he wanted to slow down and take the company in a smaller direction. This decision allowed Jackie to pursue a new career path. She knew she wanted to stay in construction as she has always enjoyed the fast-paced environment and woke up every day knowing there is something new to tackle.

She started with B&D July of 2017 as a project engineer for our electrical department. As she had a strong construction background she quickly grew into the position as Project Manager for one of B&D’s largest projects, VLL Antelope. She is one of the two women project managers for B&D. For her transition into this new position she hopes to “provide” for her foreman/crew, (i.e. getting questions answered, providing supplies/material/drawings). She is eager for more responsibility and be able to provide her knowledge and leader skills at a higher level. She stated in the interview, “if it wasn’t for my amazing crew at VLL Antelope, I would have not received this advancement. They teach me something new every day.” She is looking forward to learning more in this new position and cannot wait for what her future holds at B&D.

In ten years, Jackie sees herself as successful Project Manager, managing million-dollar projects. She also has hopes to continue her education, by completing her master’s in construction management.

In Jackie’s spare time she enjoys spending time with her husband of six years. They enjoy attending sporting event (go Red Soxs) and hanging out with their families. She loves to spoil her fur baby shih tzu named, Smalls. She still enjoys helping her father out when he needs an extra hand running the business, and is still very active in the business.

Jackie is thankful that her father introduced her into this industry, and believes she is making him proud. Thanks Jackie for all you do for this company, it is employees like you that really represent B&D’s motto, “whatever it takes.”
