WHAT WE DID
B&D Industries, Inc. partnered with the State of New Mexico’s Energy, Minerals & Natural Resources Department to modernize two aging comfort stations at Elephant Butte Lake State Park. The remodel transformed outdated facilities into durable, efficient, and visitor-friendly restrooms that enhance the park experience for thousands of guests each year.
The project involved a comprehensive remodel of both comfort stations, including:
- Complete replacement of electrical systems
- Installation of new bathroom fixtures, partitions, and plumbing
- Updated floor and wall tile finishes
- New pitched metal roof
- Fresh interior paint and architectural upgrades
- Replacement of corroded underground cast-iron piping with new 4-inch PVC systems
During the construction phase, the team discovered extensive corrosion in the existing underground cast-iron piping. To address this, B&D carefully broke through the foundation slab, excavated beneath the existing structure while maintaining its stability, and installed new PVC piping throughout. This solution restored functionality while preserving the integrity of the buildings. Both comfort stations are now fully operational, providing reliable and modern facilities for visitors at Elephant Butte Lake State Park.
